On a special episode of the AppleInsider podcast, we recap everything announced at Apple’s “Unleashed” event, including AirPods 3, M1 Pro and M1 Max chips, and the redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models.

Now in addition to the $9.99 individual subscription and $14.99 for families, users can choose a $4.99 tier that allows Apple Music listening solely via Siri. While it can be accessed across devices, this Apple Music Voice Plan would be useful for those wanting a HomePod mini but has no other Apple devices.

Apple unveiled brand new AirPods with Spatial Audio and a new design for $179. New features include Adaptive EQ, IPX4 water and sweat resistance, force sensor controls, and support for Find My. The older second-generation AirPods are still available for $129.

Tim Cook transitioned to discuss the Apple Silicon transition, commenting that we are “halfway” through their two-year timeline. Announced today are two new processors for pro-level machines: M1 Pro and M1 Max.

M1 Pro comes with a 10-core CPU that’s 70% faster than the M1 and sports 8 high-efficiency cores plus 2 high-performance cores. M1 Pro can support up to two external displays and up to 32GB unified memory.

M1 Max comes with a 10-core CPU and up to 32-core GPU, which is 4x faster than the M1. This high-end M1 Max can support up to 64GB unified memory and up to 4 external displays.

Each MacBook Pro also comes with an XDR Liquid Retina Display with ProMotion powered by mini LED technology. In order to make the most of this new display, bezels have decreased and a notch is now used for the updated 1080p FaceTime camera.

The new 14-inch MacBook Pro starts at $1,999 for 16GB unified memory and 512GB SSD, while the 16-inch MacBook Pro starts at $2,499. Both MacBook Pro models can be upgraded to the M1 Max processor with 32-core GPU, 8TB storage, and 64GB unified memory.
