This week on the AppleInsider podcast your hosts look at early reviews for the M1 iPad Pro and 24-inch iMac, talk Spatial Audio and Lossless coming to Apple Music, and evaluate the latest “Apple Watch Series 7” leak.
Review embargoes for the M1 iPad Pro and 24-inch iMac lifted this week. Those with early access praised the 12.9-inch iPad Pro Liquid Retina XDR display, but recognized iPadOS is missing significant features that could take advantage of its powerful CPU.
Rumors of the coming 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro point to a physical redesign, 10-core processors, and support for up to 64GB RAM. These MacBook Pro models and a redesigned MacBook Air could launch early this summer.
Apple announced new accessibility features coming later this year that will allow users to operate an Apple Watch and iPad without touching the screen. In addition to user interaction updates, Apple has launched a new service called SignTime that will allow customers to communicate with retail staff and AppleCare employees via Sign Language from a web browser.
Dolby Atmos, Spatial Audio, and Lossless audio tracks are coming to Apple Music at no extra charge to users. We walk through the distinctions between these audio formats and what devices are required to take advantage of Spatial Audio vs. Lossless music tracks.
We wrap up with comments that Apple’s Craig Federighi made during the Epic Games v. Apple trial claiming macOS does not meet the same security standards as iOS.
